The Day of God's Love

Soon we celebrate a day of love. Jesus’ love is true, radical, deep and covers every human flaw. It’s a love that can carry you forever. It’s something that affects not only yourself, but a whole world around you. That’s what makes valentine’s day a perfect time to spread that love.

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
- 1 john 4:10

Eternal love starts with God. That’s always been the way. Sometimes you can feel it like a physical thing, sometimes not at all. But God’s love is more than a feeling, it’s a truth that you can always lean on. Something that can affect your everyday life and your attitude. We have received something that the world is in great need of. God tells us that this love is made for everyone, even those who don’t know Him yet. How do we share love with others? How can we love our neighbor? 

He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
- Luke 10:27

Jesus often talks about loving the people around you, which means it’s important. But why? It’s a way of letting your life tell the story of a loving God. To love your friend, classmate or neighbor is not always easy, but there is so much value in treating someone with love. That can mean giving of your time to listen to someone and show that you care about them. Or giving of your prestige and hang out with one of those who aren’t the most popular at school. Or giving of your love and do good toward someone who might not give anything back. God has given us the ultimate proof of love. He went all the way and gave his own life for us - so that we could live. 

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.“

— JOHN 3:16

The biggest gift of love was given to us from God. The initiative starts with Him. He has already proven His love for us and because of that we can take bold initiatives to share that greatest love in the world.
